The interplay between transport and degenerate diffusion in kinetic equations gives rise to hypoelliptic regularity, which becomes intrinsically limited in the presence of boundary conditions. We will discuss recent results on boundary regularity for Fokker-Planck-Landau-type kinetic models, highlighting sharp smoothness properties of solutions up to the boundary in several settings.
