Students from our college have achieved remarkable results in the National Applied Statistics Case Competition

Recently, the Central China regional competition of the 8th National Case Competition for Professional Degree Postgraduates in Applied Statistics in 2025 came to a successful conclusion. A total of 17 teams from the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Wuhan University participated in the competition and eventually won 4 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 5 third prizes, setting a new record for the best performance of our school in this event.

The National Case Competition for Postgraduates of Applied Statistics (MAS) is an important event held under the guidance of the National MAS Education Steering Committee, aiming to cultivate the abilities of MAS postgraduates in applied statistics to identify, study, solve and evaluate problems. As a teaching link and important task set up by the MAS Teaching Steering Committee, the competition has become part of the content for the establishment, assessment, inspection and evaluation of degree authorization points, and has been incorporated into the evaluation index system.

In this competition, the teams from our college demonstrated a solid professional foundation and outstanding practical innovation capabilities. The entries covered multiple cutting-edge fields such as user behavior analysis, satisfaction modeling, market forecasting, and social surveys, reflecting the deep integration of statistical methods with practical applications.

In recent years, our college has been actively exploring new models of professional degree postgraduate education, actively guiding students to combine what they have learned in class with real-world problems, encouraging students to broaden their horizons and enhance their abilities through subject competitions, and strengthening the cultivation of students' practical abilities and innovative qualities. The outstanding achievements we have made this time not only strongly affirm the quality of our college's applied statistics professional degree postgraduate education, but also accumulate valuable experience for future talent cultivation and discipline construction.

In the future, our college will continue to implement the relevant requirements of the state regarding the classified development of postgraduate education, closely integrate with the demands of the industry and society, give full play to the educational function of discipline competitions, and strive to cultivate high-level applied talents with solid disciplinary foundations, outstanding practical abilities and broad cutting-edge perspectives.

According to the competition schedule, the four teams that win the first prize in the regional competition will advance to the national finals. Wish all the students of our college greater success on the national stage!
