Our School Holds Grand 2025 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral

On the afternoon of June 19, the grand graduation ceremony and degree conferral for the Class of 2025 was held in the Lei Jun Lecture Hall. School leaders, faculty representatives, and all 2025 graduates attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Liu Shanshan, Deputy Secretary of the School's Party Committee.

The ceremony commenced with a warm-up segment filled with heartfelt moments. Following the opening music, all teachers and students watched the graduation commemorative video "Departing from Luojia." This was followed by a medley performance by students Wang Shu, Guo Zhirou, Zhu Caoyang, Li Zijing, and Wang Jingyi, who sang "I Believe in Math, So I Persevere" and "Group Photo," creating a highly enthusiastic atmosphere.

After the musical performances, the ceremony officially began. All attending teachers and students stood up and sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China. Subsequently, Li Qin, Party Secretary of the School, delivered a speech on behalf of the School. He first extended warm congratulations to the 361 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral graduates of the Class of 2025 who had successfully completed their studies. Secretary Li Qin fondly recalled the students' journey from the old building atop Yingxiong Hill to the Lei Jun Science and Technology Building, acknowledging their various achievements during their time at the university. Facing the wave of the digital intelligence era, Secretary Li Qin put forward three earnest expectations for all graduates: First, uphold the concept of lifelong learning and courageously be "knowledge seekers" who advance with the times, maintaining curiosity and a spirit of exploration in this era of rapid knowledge iteration. Second, persist in integrating theory with practice, willingly becoming "practitioners" who are down-to-earth, applying the value of mathematics and statistics to solve practical problems. Third, cultivate a profound sense of national sentiment and strive to be "contributors" who serve the country and its people, offering wisdom and strength in the journey to build a strong nation through science and technology.

Postgraduate representative Zheng Chao, a 2025 doctoral graduate in Fundamental Mathematics, delivered a speech. He shared his six-year experience in study and scientific research at Wuhan University, sincerely thanking his supervisor for their careful guidance and his classmates for their support. Recalling moments of academic discussions with his supervisor and late-night studies with peers, he encouraged everyone to cherish their campus time, embrace challenges courageously, explore steadfastly, and called on graduates to "be kind to our imperfect selves."

Undergraduate representative Shang Enlong, a 2025 bachelor's graduate in Information and Computing Science, delivered a speech. He recounted his mental journey from the curiosity and apprehension upon first entering Wuhan University to gradually finding the power to change the world with mathematics and computing. Shang Enlong specifically mentioned that the spirit of Wuhan University solidified his ideal of serving the country through scientific research and taught him to embrace responsibility and duty on a broader stage. He deeply understood the importance of aligning personal research with national development and gratefully acknowledged his mother's unconditional support. He called on all classmates to carry the confidence and courage accumulated at Wuhan University, fear no storms, journey towards mountains and seas, and forever retain the youthful spirit of Luojia.

Finally, the degree conferral ceremony was grandly held. To the solemn music, graduates stepped onto the stage in turn, where school leaders and professors performed the tassel-moving ritual, conferred degree certificates, and took commemorative photos.

The ceremony concluded successfully amidst warm applause. All 2025 graduates will carry the university's spiritual imprint and the School's earnest exhortations, engaging in the construction of the era with mathematical wisdom and national sentiment, writing new chapters for Wuhan University's math and stats people across the motherland.
