Wuhan University Students Achieve Historic Results in National Applied Statistics Case Competition

Recently, the 2025 Eighth National Applied Statistics Professional Degree Postgraduate Case Competition (Central China Division) concluded successfully. A total of 17 teams from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Wuhan University participated in the competition, ultimately clinching 4 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and 5 third prizes—marking the best performance in the history of our school in this competition.

The National Applied Statistics Professional Degree Postgraduate Case Competition is an important event organized under the guidance of the National Committee for Master of Applied Statistics (MAS) Education. It aims to cultivate MAS students' abilities in identifying, researching, solving, and evaluating problems. As a key teaching component and task set by the MAS Education Committee, the competition has become an integral part of the establishment, assessment, inspection, and evaluation of degree programs and is included in the evaluation indicator system.

In this competition, the participating teams from our school demonstrated solid professional foundations and outstanding practical innovation capabilities. Their entries covered multiple cutting-edge fields, including user behavior analysis, satisfaction modeling, market forecasting, and social surveys, reflecting the deep integration of statistical methods with real-world applications.

In recent years, our school has actively explored new models for professional degree postgraduate education, encouraging students to combine classroom learning with real-world issues. We have motivated students to broaden their horizons and enhance their skills through academic competitions, thereby strengthening their practical abilities and innovative thinking. The outstanding achievements in this competition not only affirm the quality of MAS education at our school but also provide valuable experience for future talent cultivation and disciplinary development.

Moving forward, our school will continue to implement national requirements for the categorized development of postgraduate education, closely align with industry and societal needs, and fully leverage the educational function of academic competitions. We are committed to cultivating high-level applied talents with solid disciplinary foundations, outstanding practical capabilities, and broad, forward-looking perspectives.

According to the competition schedule, the four teams that won first prizes in the regional division will advance to the national finals. We wish our students continued success on the national stage!
